It is the habit of many to start out a new year with the formulation of a New Year's Resolution. Lose weight. Exercise daily. Eat helathier. Stop smoking. Schedule my days better. These are all common New Year's Resloutions that we hear people speak of. We always want to look better and feel better about ourselves. But how many New Year's Resolution success stories do you hear? Not too many. Afterall, we are constantly finding flaws in our personality, character and of course, our body's appearance never has a 100% satisfaction-guaranteed attached to it. We are human. It is time to make New Year's Resolutions whose successes are not defined by self-centered measurements of whether YOU lost weight or YOU stopped smoking or YOU stuck to YOUR daily ROUTINE. Don't get me wrong. These are all potentially good things to set out to accomplish. It is okay to want to look good and feel better about yourself. But, when it comes down to it, if you get to the end of 2008 and see that YOU did not acomplish what YOU set out to do, you will only feel like a failure, ultimately defeating the original purpose of your New Year's Resolution-to look good and feel better about yourself. Don't you think that is time that we start looking beyond oursleves and consider making New Year's Resolutions that are going to have the greatest impact by influencing the lives of OTHERS? Living your life fully surrendered to the will of God for your life, allowing Him to do ANYTHING He wants in and through youis what we were created to do. It has eternal effects in your own life, but more importantly in the lives of OTHERS. You will get to the end of 2008, ready to ring in 2009 feeling accomplished, succesful and better than ever because you allowed God to do something that will last forever! Forget those New Year's Resolutions that nine times out of ten fail. Do something different in 2008. Work towards a Resolution that has a 100% success rate!
